Change the Filter of your air-conditioner

Air-conditioning systems are constantly working to maintain the ideal temperature in your home throughout the year. However, as they circulate through all that air, they filter out some of the most common pollutants. Their air filters eventually become clogged and cease to function.

Not only does this harm your indoor air quality, but it also wears down your air conditioning system, potentially resulting in costly repairs down the road. So, change your AC filters regularly, or get an air conditioning service plan that usually includes a filter change – especially if you have allergies or live in a polluted metropolitan area.

Control Humidity

Mold and mildew thrive in humid and moist environments, which can aggravate allergies and asthma. The hot summer months can bring particularly humid conditions, depending on your location. With a few strategically placed dehumidifiers, you can reduce the amount of moisture in the air and prevent the growth of bothersome molds.

Keep your carpets and other furniture clean

Rugs, carpets and other furniture can do more than increasing the comfort of your home. They act as air filters, trapping dust and other particles in their numerous fibers. Clean these rugs, carpets and other furniture parts frequently and they will keep working for better air quality, improving the air quality in your home, just by lying there!

Check Air Ducts

The air ducts are responsible for distributing hot and cold air throughout your home and maintaining a comfortable temperature in each room. However, if the ducts are not installed or maintained properly, contaminants can be transferred from one room to another. Dust, dander, and even mold can build up in your ducts over time, lowering the overall air quality. Make sure your ducts are circulating fresh, clean air by hiring a professional.

Put indoor plants in your home

Nature has given us plants which work as natural air filters. By putting a few indoor plants in your house, they can do magic in improving the air quality of your house. These plants filter the pollutants present in the air through pores and give out fresh oxygen contributing to safe and healthy indoor air. Small plants like lilies and larger plants like palm trees are regarded as the best options for filtering indoor air.
